L A MH creates objects that feel discovered rather than designed molten, imperfect and impossible to repeat. The collection lives between mineral specimen, future relic and intimate sculpture.

THE BODY.

Like a garment caught mid-transformation, each piece changes with movement, light and distance. It is not meant to match the wearer. It is meant to interrupt them.

LAUREN
ANNE
McHALE.

Originally from Southern California, Lauren Anne McHale is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores sculpture, material experimentation, and objects created to be worn. Her work investigates the moment where fluidity becomes permanence, transforming movement into forms that appear suspended in time.

At nineteen, Lauren left California for Italy to study fashion, beginning a journey that would take her through some of the world’s leading luxury houses and specialist ateliers. Over the following decade she immersed herself in couture, specializing in embroidery, textile innovation, color, and material development. Based in Florence at Emilio Pucci, she contributed to hundreds of runway collections, red carpet gowns, and bespoke celebrity commissions, including Beyoncé’s performance of the National Anthem at President Obama’s Presidential Inauguration, alongside countless creations worn by artists, performers, and public figures around the world.

Fashion became far more than an industry. It became an education in craftsmanship, material innovation, and the relentless pursuit of ideas that had never existed before. Working across Europe and Asia with specialist artisans and manufacturers, Lauren developed a deep fascination with the behavior of materials and the creative possibilities hidden within the making process. Rather than following trends, she became interested in discovering entirely new ways for materials to communicate emotion, movement, and form.

That same curiosity naturally extended beyond textiles.

Having collected rocks, minerals, and unusual natural specimens since childhood, Lauren found herself increasingly drawn toward geology, crystal growth, and the extraordinary optical worlds hidden inside gemstones. She relocated to Switzerland to study metalsmithing, gemstone faceting, and stone setting, bringing together traditional craftsmanship with the same experimental mindset that had shaped her years in fashion.

The stones themselves are as personal as the sculptures that surround them. Many are rough crystals collected during her own travels or discovered by friends and fellow collectors across the world. Others are acquired directly through relationships with miners and independent dealers she has come to know personally. Faceted stones are cut either by Lauren herself or by a small circle of lapidaries with whom she works closely, allowing each gemstone to preserve its individuality rather than conforming to commercial standards.

Working under the name L A MH, Lauren creates sculptural works that exist somewhere between contemporary art and adornment. Inspired by the idea of solidified liquid, precious metals appear to flow, collapse, and crystallize around each stone, creating forms that feel simultaneously geological and imagined. Rather than designing around gemstones, she allows each specimen to guide the sculpture, making every work a unique dialogue between nature and artist.

Her practice continues to evolve through jewelry, wearable sculpture, and material exploration, yet the philosophy remains unchanged: to create objects that feel less like manufactured products and more like discoveries—artifacts shaped by time, nature, and imagination.
